JONJO O'NEILL RACING
NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2019
AND WE'RE OFF!
The new National Hunt season is always an exciting time of year. We, ours owners and jockeys alike all have high hopes of what the next few months have in store.
All of the horses are in good health and running well. It's all systems go here at Jackdaws Castle and we look forward to sending out lots of runners in the upcoming weeks.
RECENT WINNERS
It has been great to get a few winners recently.
Jonjo O'Neill Jr. produced a fine ride from the front to win the feature race worth £20,000 at Plumpton aboard Young Wolf for owner Mrs Gay Smith.
He then followed up the success 2 days later riding Write It Down to a 1¼ length victory in Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase at Warwick.
The good form continued at a very wet Southwell with Joly Maker winning the 1m7f Handicap Chase for owner JP McManus with Jonjo Jr. in the saddle.
Our most recent winner was Soaring Glory at Warwick for owners Pat and Nan Hickey. It was very pleasing to see him finish so well to win the bumper and cap off a good few weeks. A brilliant effort from all of the team.
RACING TV
It was brilliant to welcome Racing TV here to Jackdaws for an interview with Jonjo Snr and Jonjo Jr. and Wasdell chairman Martin Tedham.
They discussed the season ahead looking at Sky Pirate, Cloth Cap, Papa Tango Charly, Django Django, Annie MC, Carys' Commodity among others. We can't wait to see the feature when it's aired later this month.
CONCIERGE UK BENTLEY EXPERIENCE
We were delighted to invite Rybrook Bentley for a drive event here at Jackdaws Castle for BLG Finance & Development through Concierge UK.
Guests were greeted in the Owners' Suite before being driven in the Bentleys to watch the 2nd lot on the gallops.
After breakfast, guests enjoyed a drive around the Jackdaws Castle estate in the Bentleys, followed by a tour of the facilities watching horses learning to jump over different obstacles in the indoor school, before heading into the spa to see horses being weighed, swimming and in the solarium.
Once all the driving was complete, guests enjoyed a drinks reception on the lawn in the top yard before heading to The Plough Inn at Ford for lunch.
CHELTENHAM CLUB 18-28
On Saturday 21st September, we welcomed Cheltenham Racecourse’s Club 18-28 members to Jackdaws Castle.
They enjoyed a stable tour hosted by Edward Gillespie including watching 3rd lot on the gallops, before returning to the yard to receive their annual membership passes and Jonjo O'neill Racing goody bag!
