Cheltenham returns

On Thursday, Knight Destroyer started off the day at Uttoxeter in great fashion winning the Juvenile Hurdle impressively, under Aidan Coleman for Ms Diane Carr. Counter Shy ran well again, finishing second in the Novice Hurdle, and Minella Rocco was slightly disappointing, starting off his season finishing fourth in the Irish Daily Star grade 3 chase on John Short’s charity day at Punchestown, let’s hope they raised plenty of money for his family.

On Saturday we had four runners at Market Rasen, Ebony’s Encore started the day by finishing third in the Mare’s Novice Hurdle, followed by Demon D’Aunou winning impressively, albeit in a poor race on his first start after arriving from France. Lithic ran with promise, finishing third on his first start over fences.

Today, Minotaur runs in the 4.50 at Pontefract and tomorrow we have four over the jumps at Exeter and one on the flat at Yarmouth, followed by Worcester on Wednesday, Carlisle, Southwell and Ludlow on Thursday and Cheltenham is back on Friday.

The horses remain in good form and we are well up on winners compared with this time last season with prize money well above £300,000. Long may it continue.
