It was a privilege to welcome our good friend Bob Champion to Jackdaws Castle on Friday for a leg of his "40for40" anniversary walk.
Bob left Aintree on 11 April, the day after the Randox Grand National 2021, to embark on a 191 mile route, which represents the 191 days from his diagnosis on 24th July 1979, his months of gruelling treatment to then receiving the all clear 31st January 1980 - and going on to win the Grand National the following year. This 40th Anniversary walk is sponsored by The Wasdell Group and will be unique in the fact that it will not be a linear route, but Bob will cover the 191 miles in 40 memorable stops, all connected to his remarkable life story and representing every year from 1981 - 2021. It will finish at Findon, the place where Aldanti was trained and where the Gifford family carry on the family legacy. It was great to welcome lots of supporters to Jackdaws Castle who all walked with Bob around the gallops. You can donate to the walk by visiting - www.bobchampion.org.uk/bobs-40-for-40-walk
