The week started off well with Timeforwest and Box Office
winning at Market Rasen on Monday 27th. With the ground at last drying up, we have
a lot of horses who have been waiting for better conditions for most of the
winter. Hopefully this will trigger an upturn in
fortunes for Jackdaws Castle over the coming weeks.
The Jockey Club South West Syndicate have had a great week,
with Timeforwest following up at Taunton on Thursday 30th – just three days
after winning at Market Rasen. We used
Jack Savage’s claim to cancel out her penalty and as this was a Conditional
Jockey’s Race, she will not have a further penalty when she turns out again at
Kempton on Tuesday. A large number
of the syndicate turned out in the Taunton sunshine to cheer her on, and were
really well looked after by the Taunton Management team after the race which
was a nice touch and well received.
More of That and Go Conquer both travelled to Lambourne this
morning to school over the Grand National Fences – I was delighted with the way
they jumped and I’m looking forward to running them both next week.
We have a relatively quiet weekend with the flat season
starting at Doncaster. We have two
runners at Stratford on Saturday – Hedley Lamarr in the 3.20 and Strongly
Suggested in the 5.05. On Sunday 2nd
April, Champagne At Tara runs in the valuable Novice Handicap Chase at Ascot
and Westendorf runs in the competitive Conditional Jockey’s race with Killian
Moore on board.
Next week will be a very busy week with plenty of runners
early on in the week, followed by the National Meeting starting at Aintree on
